One of the most exciting developments at TROY this year is the growing number of students exploring career pathways through our partnership with Whitko Career Academy. In fact, we currently have our largest cohort ever participating in career and technical education, with 13 students enrolled in programs designed to prepare them for successful futures.
Our students are gaining hands-on experience in a variety of high-demand fields, including Construction Trades, Criminal Justice, Engineering & Design, Culinary Arts, Welding, Early Childhood Education, and Veterinary Science. Through these programs, students are not only exploring careers that align with their interests and talents, but also developing technical skills and earning industry-recognized credentials that can lead to rewarding careers right here in northeast Indiana.
This year, we are especially proud of one of our students enrolled in the highly competitive Automotive Technician program through Columbia City High School. His instructor recently shared that he is currently performing at the top of his class. Achievements like this are a testament to what can happen when students are given opportunities to discover their strengths, build confidence, and apply themselves in meaningful ways.
As Indiana’s new diploma requirements place greater emphasis on college and career readiness, partnerships like Whitko Career Academy and Columbia City High School are becoming increasingly important. These opportunities allow our students to gain real-world experience, develop workforce skills, and create a clear vision for life after high school.
